Barcelona
Went for a techno night - a very small venue with a great sound system. No frills, just a dark room that takes the music seriously.
Valencia
An old ice factory turned bar and cultural space near the beach - drinks, food, music, and a crowd that keeps it going. Stayed far later than planned. Really good.
Bristol
Saw Dosem here - a no-frills club that puts the budget where it matters: the lineup and the sound.
Underground vaults right by Temple Meads - got to see the legendary John Digweed here, supported by Red Freya. The tunnels make for a properly atmospheric room; exactly where that kind of set belongs.
London
Proper warehouse clubbing in Wapping - big rooms, serious sound, none of the West End gloss. Saw Patrice Bäumel play four hours here and the room held up for every minute of it.
Did an Anjunadeep Open Air here - melodic house between the colonnades, with the baroque riverside architecture as the backdrop. A fairly surreal place to spend a festival day, and all the better for it.
San Francisco, California
A simple open space with a good lighting and visuals setup - the room gets out of the way and lets the production do the work.
